Kyoto Prefectural Police First Investigation Division detectives Domon Kaoru and Kamohara Yuki discover the stabbed body of a shop owner at an herb store in Kyoto city. The investigation begins when Ochiai Sakiko, a detective from the Third Organized Crime Countermeasures Division, calls Kamohara about an expected group theft at the store, though her true motives remain suspicious as the detectives rush to the scene.
Although the store’s security camera footage had been deleted by the perpetrator, the forensic science team led by Mariko successfully restored the video evidence. The recovered footage reveals that Kawata Shuto, who has a prior record for controlled substance possession, committed the crime. However, when the detectives arrive at Kawata’s residence, they discover that Sakiko has already begun searching the premises, leaving Domon stunned by this development.
