Mystery to Iunakare

Kuno Totono is a university student. He has curly hair, which he has a complex about. He doesn’t have any friends or a girlfriend. His memory and observation skills are very good and he is also skilled at making conclusions from a given set of facts. A murder case takes place in a park near Kuno Totono’s home. The victim is a university student that attended the same school and Kuno becomes a suspect in the murder. He is interrogated by detectives at the police station. During the interrogation, Kuno becomes aware of hidden clues behind the student’s murder and also the personal worries of the detectives. But a weapon, which contains Kuno’s fingerprints, is found.

The special edition features a rebooted version of Episode 1 from the original drama series, which aired on January 10, 2022, with newly added scenes, as well as the so-called “Time Capsule Arc” from Volume 11 of the original manga.

Kuno Totono (played by Suda Masaki) becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his university classmate Sagae Ken after the latter is found dead. He is questioned by officers from the Otonari Police Station, including Furomitsu Seiko (played by Ito Sairi), Ikemoto Yuto (played by Onoe Matsuya II), Aoto Nariaki (played by Tsutsui Michitaka), and Yabu Kanzo (played by Endo Kenichi). Meanwhile, Ren is also interviewed by detectives on campus. Amatatsu Haruo (played by Suzuki Kosuke) grows concerned for both Totono and Ren, who are members of his university seminar.

A few days after the case is resolved, Ren invites Totono to take part in a bizarre part-time job that pays ¥10,000 per day. At first, Totono refuses, but Ren’s innocent smile and words – “If anything happens, you’ll figure it out, right Totono-kun?” – eventually convince him to reluctantly accept.

From the popular drama, Suda Masaki will reprise his role as Kunou Totonou for the Mystery to Iu Nakare film adaptation set to release September 15, 2023. It follows volumes 2 through 4 of the manga, known as the Hiroshima arc, in which Totonou is dragged into the inheritance conundrum of the Kariatsumari family.
