Sefure no Hinkaku

Morimura Shoko is a twice-divorced single mother working as a temporary employee while raising her daughter on her own. At her high school reunion, she reconnects with her first love, Kitada Kazuki, who is now an obstetrician-gynecologist.
After Kazuki invites her to a hotel and they spend the night together, Shoko is stunned when he proposes that they maintain a casual friends-with-benefits relationship. Unable to accept the unexpected suggestion, she struggles with how to respond.

This is the second part of a two-part live action film adaptation of Minato Yoriko’s ladies comic series.

Morimura Shoko, now in a relationship where she meets Kazuki regularly, finds herself increasingly conscious of her age as she approaches her late 30s. Around this time, due to certain circumstances, Kazuki ends up taking care of a 17 year-old girl, Yamada Saki (Takaishi Akari). Saki gradually develops feelings for Kazuki and grows increasingly jealous of Shoko. Her emotions trigger an incident, which leads Kazuki to propose ending their “friends-with-benefits” arrangement. Meanwhile, as Shoko is left feeling deflated, she finds herself drawn to Ichihara, a 23 year-old boxer who is interested in her…

Morimura Shoko (played by Yukihira Aika) is a 36-year-old twice-divorced single mother who works as a temp employee while raising her daughter. At a high school reunion, she reunites with Kitada Kazuki (Aoyagi Sho), her first love who is now an OB-GYN, and is invited back to his hotel room. After years without intimacy, Shoko finds herself wanting to deepen their relationship — but Kazuki has no such intentions, and instead proposes that they become friends with benefits. Caught off guard by the blunt suggestion, Shoko struggles to accept such an arrangement.

Around the same time, she discovers that her classmate Shindo Hanae (Katayama Moemi) is already in exactly that kind of relationship with Kazuki. On top of that, her workplace superior Kuriyama (Niiro Shinya) begins making advances toward her.

Meanwhile, there is a reason Kazuki now seeks only no-strings-attached relationships — a secret from his past that he has never told anyone…

While staying on a remote island to provide medical care, Kazuki begins to reflect on his life and gradually starts imagining a future with Shoko. Deeply moved by his feelings, Shoko believes the two may finally be able to take a major step toward happiness together.

However, just as they begin to move forward, Shoko’s ex-husband Hiroshi (Toshio Matsumoto) reappears—now acting like a stalker—and attempts to tear them apart. As Shoko and Kazuki’s complicated relationship, rekindled after a reunion at a class gathering, faces new turmoil, the question remains: what fate awaits their love?
