Inogashira Goro, a private merchant who personally runs his imported dry goods business on his own. Being a man of a few words, he prefers to live an uncomplicated, solitary lifestyle. He smokes but doesn’t drink alcohol. He also has a very healthy appetite. In between meetings with clients in various towns, Inogashira makes it a point to visit different eateries, try out their tasty dishes, and discover the best way to eat them. These eateries are real places in Tokyo serving the actual food featured in the drama.

Inogashira Goro, who runs an imported goods business, travels to different neighborhoods for work. During these trips, he makes solitary visits to various restaurants, encountering indescribable culinary experiences.

This is the second season of the live-action adaptation of the popular manga “Kodoku no Gourmet” (The Solitary Gourmet). Rather than focusing on detailed explanations of cuisine, the story maintains a documentary-like style, chronicling the protagonist’s dining scenes and inner thoughts.

The delicious establishments Goro visits aren’t from the original manga but are real restaurants discovered by the show’s staff through their own research. After each episode, the “Furat QUSUMI” segment features Kusumi Masayuki, the original manga creator. Kusumi actively participates in the show’s production, contributing to both screenplay development and background music.

The drama will continue in the exact same style as the previous two seasons and feature more sweets and light meals that made the second season so popular. Kusumi himself will also be appearing in a short segment at the end of the drama to give viewers more information.

Kodoku no Gurume New Year’s Eve SP: Kyoto-Nagoya Business Trip Edition (31 Dec. 2018) is the second SP held on a New Year’s Eve that features parts that were broadcast live. This time, Goro (Matsushige Yutaka) goes to Kyoto on Dec. 30. In Kyoto, he yearns to eat unagi dish but fails to find it. Instead, he tries a shop called “Nashimote” that offers quintessential Kyoto cuisine, and enjoys a donabe meal that boasts of Kyoto’s light and elegant cooking. He then goes and stays overnight at Nagoya. There, on the morning of Dec. 31, he starts his day at a coffeeshop called “Karasu” where he enjoys the shop’s original blend coffee and anko-toast. After work later that day, he again intends to find an unagi shop. However, he is tempted to try a shop called “Hira” that serves the Nagoyan soul food, Taiwan Ramen. Goro couldn’t help but dive into this new and spicy cuisine…
He goes back to Tokyo that day, where he still has work to do. On the night of New Year’s Eve, he meets with his last client, Maeda (Ito Shiro), the owner of a dango shop in Shibamata, Katsushika Ward. Goro who is still hoping to eat unagi on the last day of the year, asks Maeda if a nearby unagi shop is still open. Maeda replies that it is not. Will poor Goro not realize his wish for a Year-Crossing Unagi?

Entering its 12th year since it first aired, the 11th installment of the series “Kodoku no Gourmet” has a unique twist: Yutaka Matsushige, the lead actor who has portrayed Inogashira Goro throughout the series, is now involved with the project planning!

This time around, instead of focusing solely on Goro’s solo dining experiences, the show will highlight the gourmet adventures and solo meals of people from various professions that Goro encounters in different towns!
The blissful solitary act of eating without worrying about being disturbed by anyone else. This omnibus gourmet drama will feature a variety of guests of various genders, ages and occupations, depicting each person’s story as they enjoy their own “Solitary Gourmet” moments freely.

Based on the manga, “Kodoku no Gurume” follows Inogashira Goro as he casually drops into dining spots he discovers during his business travels, freely enjoying whatever dishes catch his fancy. This time, at the request of a movie theater director in Yokohama, Goro takes on the task of delivering a film to Hachioji. Though he initially accepted this as his year-end work assignment, Goro finds himself unexpectedly entangled in various situations along the way, ultimately traveling to Nagano to transport the film. Driving long distances inevitably makes him hungry, and he encounters an exquisite culinary experience at his destination.

Inogashira Goro, a trading merchant, travels to Paris after being summoned by Matsuo Chiaki, the daughter of his former lover. He is tasked by Chiaki’s grandfather with finding a recipe for a soup he drank during childhood and wishes to taste again. Goro enlists the help of Nakagawa, a regular at a ramen shop, and sets out to search for the recipe that crosses national boundaries.

As always, wherever he goes this year as well, Goro repeatedly finds himself taking on one request after another.
Along the way, he encounters a wide variety of local people and fully enjoys regional cuisine unique to each area.
