Harukanaru Yama no Yobigoe

In the dairy farming town of Nakashibetsu in the Konsen Plain of eastern Hokkaido, Kazami Tamiko raises cattle on the land left by her deceased husband while caring for her only son, Takeshi. One stormy spring night, a man visits Tamiko’s house and asks to stay in the barn. That night, a cow gives birth, and the man helps with the delivery before leaving the next morning. One summer day, the same man returns asking for work. Though Hitomi, the neighbor’s daughter, helps out, Tamiko, lacking male assistance, decides to hire him. The man, who calls himself Tajima Kosaku, begins living and working in the barn…

In the eastern region of Hokkaido, surrounded by magnificent natural beauty in Nakashibetsu, a mysterious man named Kosaku (Abe Hiroshi) arrives on a stormy night at the dairy farm of Tamiko (Tokiwa Takako), a widow who produces high-quality milk from the small but excellent operation left behind by her late husband. Despite being viewed with suspicion by Aburuta, the president of a local construction company who harbors feelings for Tamiko, as well as by her father-in-law, Yoshio, and her late husband’s aunt Suzue, Kosaku skillfully helps out on Tamiko’s understaffed farm. He gradually wins the trust of Tamiko and becomes beloved by her young son, Takeshi, who has been living lonely days since losing his father. However, the happy days that begin to unfold come crashing down with a resounding collapse when the secret that Kosaku has been desperately hiding finally comes to light.

Four years after the airing of Harukanaru Yama no Yobigoe, Hiroshi Abe and Tokiwa Takako reunite to bring us this human love story.

After Tamiko Kazami ‘s husband passes away, she works their dairy farm. People around her oppose her, but she places her cattle out to pasture which her late husband persisted. Tamiko’s situation is not very good. Her father-in-law’s chronic disease gets worse and she must do all the labor by herself. One night, a man comes to stay the night because of a broken bike. Tamiko asks him “Please work here.”
