Synopsis

Hana Yori Dango, internationally widely known as Boys Over Flowers, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kamio Yoko. Although it was originally made into an anime in 1996, and a live-action short-length movie in 1995, the most successful and widely known of the franchise is the 2005 drama series, starring Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao. The success of the series went on to generate an 11 episode sequel, a one episode special spin-off, and a final movie, which was released in 2008.

The series has been remade and adapted internationally by a number of countries, with successful reception in South Korea, China, and Taiwan, to name a few.
A Japanese sequel drama called Hana Nochi Hare was also aired in 2018. It featured a new cast and characters, with small guest cameos from a few of the original actors.
