Synopsis

The story follows Nanase Haruka, a graduate student researching genetics. After losing his stepsister in a catastrophic flood, Haruka is unable to accept her death even years later and continues to believe that she is still alive. One day, his mentor, Professor Ishimizaki, asks him to conduct a DNA analysis on some 200 year-old human remains excavated from India’s Roop Kund lake. When Haruka reluctantly examines the bones handed to him by the professor, he discovers that the DNA is a 100% match with his stepsister.
As Haruka struggles to make sense of the impossible DNA results, those connected to the investigation begin to be murdered one after another. To make matters worse, the human remains stored in his laboratory are stolen by an unknown culprit. Determined to uncover the truth behind his sister’s fate and the mysterious DNA match, Haruka is drawn into a vast conspiracy that bridges the past and the present.
