About Takeuchi Mariya

Takeuchi Mariya is a singer, songwriter, and one of the best-selling music artists in Japan. She is a city pop icon, known for collaborating with with her husband Yamashita Tatsuro, a hugely influential figure in modern Japanese pop/rock music. Their 1985 collaborative hit song “Plastic Love” experienced a resurgence in 2017 via a youtube upload of the song, which led to a worldwide renewed interest in the city pop music genre.
