Synopsis

A small photo studio near the station, long cherished by the local community, faces closure as the Heisei era begins. The shop has been run by two women: Rinko (played by Kishi Keiko) and Aya (played by Watanabe Misako). After Aya’s death, Rinko begins to feel it might be time to close.

Kadoi (played by Hayashi Kento), a real estate agent, seizes the opportunity to persuade her to sell. Then Tamiya (played by Ito Shiro) visits – a man who has supported the two women for years while maintaining their photo development equipment, secretly harboring feelings for Rinko all this time.

A letter arrives from Aya’s brother, who was presumed dead in the 1945 Manila air raids. He had managed to survive by assimilating into Filipino society and finally tracked down Aya’s address. The letter stirs memories in Rinko’s heart of their days on Luzon Island, and a secret known only to her and Aya…
