Synopsis

The original story is based on the popular manga of the same name by Hinase Mayu, serialized in Kodansha’s BE・LOVE magazine.

Pediatrician Makino (played by Matsushita Kohei) is assigned to work as a school doctor at an elementary school. Though known as a troublemaker with a sharp tongue and an even sharper attitude, Makino has a keen eye for detail and never overlooks the subtle signs children show when they’re in distress. The drama follows his journey as he recognizes these unspoken cries for help and supports children as they move forward toward their future.

In this special drama, Makino not only interacts with the elementary school students but also reconnects with them as they move on to middle school and even in the hospital. One such student, Fujino Kazuki, struggles to adjust to life in middle school. His sense of belonging is further shaken when his father suddenly brings home a new wife and stepsister, leaving Kazuki feeling lost at home as well. Meanwhile, Saejima Naoaki, who previously underwent heart surgery, is now in his second year of school. Inspired by Makino, he declares his dream of becoming a doctor like him, but hidden worries still weigh on his heart. Amid all this, Makino encounters a new patient at the hospital: a girl whose illness has returned and who has lost the will to live.
