Synopsis

In “Hanako and Anne,” in 1933 (Showa 8), 40-year-old Asaichi traveled from Kofu to Tokyo to report to Hanako that his marriage had been decided. In fact, at this time, Asaichi’s fiancée, Chizue, had also come to Tokyo to find out what kind of woman Hanako, whom Asaichi had feelings for, really was. The story depicts Chizue, who came to Tokyo with anxiety about her marriage to Asaichi, meeting familiar faces such as Eiji, Kichitaro, Kayo, Daigo, and Udagawa. Through hearing about the history between Hanako and Asaichi from them, and finally meeting Hanako face to face, Chidzue comes to understand Asaichi’s feelings anew. Additionally, the story portrays relationships that were not depicted in the main “Hanako and Anne” series, including the relationship between Kichitaro and Daigo, as well as Udagawa’s relationship with her estranged husband.
