Synopsis

Set in Amagi Pass of Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, this story explores themes of “cherished memories that never fade” and “eternal atonement.” In 1956, Mochizuki Jiro, a printing business owner in Shizuoka, receives a request from Tajima, a detective near retirement, to print criminal investigation documents. Among the cases is a time-barred murder of a construction worker, involving Otsuka Hana, a former Shuzenji courtesan, and a 14-year-old boy spotted near the Amagi Tunnel. Mochizuki realizes he was that boy 31 years ago, and Hana was his first love. After parting ways with Mochizuki, Hana was arrested for the worker’s murder, giving statements that suggested she was protecting someone. Now, this cold case returns to the spotlight, unearthing long-buried secrets.
