Synopsis

When Kindaichi Kosuke visits Okayama, he stays at Kame no Yu, a hot spring inn in the remote village of Onikubi. 23 years prior, the village had been the scene of a murder case. Now, a popular singer has returned home, putting the whole village in a festive mood. However, soon after the celebration begins, a series of murders strikes, targeting young women who were the singer’s childhood friends, one after another.

The bodies are found with eerie decorations, each arranged to mirror the lyrics of an old temari-uta (traditional handball song) passed down in the village. As past grudges, hidden family ties, and a deep thirst for revenge intertwine, Kindaichi closes in on the truth.
