Synopsis

21-year-old Nakagawa Saori (Nakajo Ayami) won a French culinary competition and joined Chez Nishijima, an upscale French restaurant at Hotel Hisui in Tokyo, as a junior chef. However, her cooking is not appreciated and having to wash plates day to day. This makes her lose confidence and passion. Then one day, Saori is suddenly transported back in time to Tokyo in 1964. She meets Kikuchi Ryuichi (Hongo Kanata), a chef at a Western restaurant called Hisuitei and begins training under him. He devotes himself to cooking in a period where ingredients and adequate cookware are limited. As she watches him closely, Saori gradually starts to realise what truly matters in cooking as well as what she lacks as a chef while he is under the mistaken impression that she ran away from home and takes care of her. At some point, Saori’s respect for Kikuchi as a chef blossoms into love. However, an incident results in her abrupt return to 2020. Was all that she experienced just a dream? Her love comes to a sudden end 56 years later in present day Tokyo.
