In the movie, the characters face new questions and challenges in an original story that celebrates each of their individual passions and preferences.
A chance encounter with openly gay college student Igarashi Daichi begins to shift 52-year-old Okita Makoto’s outdated “Showa-era mindset” toward a more modern Reiwa-era perspective. His wife Mika, a devoted fan of the boy group “RANDOM,” has recently gone from working part-time at “QUQU Bento” to becoming a full-time employee at the company’s headquarters. Their daughter Moe stays active in the BL fanfiction scene, while their son Sho has returned to school after embracing his love for makeup and cute things. Though each member pursues their own passions, family life appears harmonious.
Makoto’s past resurfaces when former subordinate Sato – once emotionally scarred by Makoto’s harsh treatment — returns as a client representative and cancels a crucial business deal, still unable to trust him. Meanwhile, Daichi struggles with loneliness after his partner Madoka is transferred to an aquarium in Kyushu. Hoping to earn travel money and distract himself, Daichi takes a part-time job at pet store “Hermosa,” only to find Sato is the manager.
As Makoto works to mend ties with Sato, Mika grapples with a generation gap between herself and her much younger boss. Sho rejoins his old baseball team to help plan a fundraising charity event, while Moe, inspired by a girl she meets there, begins creating an original manga for the digital platform Comica – while feeling the pressure of a viral post by charismatic editor Kamada about the upcoming “Comic Carnival.”
Despite the hurdles, the “Oppan” family presses on, each facing their own challenges. Can they overcome them—and continue leveling up their lives?
