Seven years have passed since the worst serial murder case in the jurisdiction of the Wangan Police Station.
Now responsible for protecting critical infrastructure – including an airport, expressways, and power substations – the precinct is set to relocate to the newly built Shin-Wangan Police Station, equipped with advanced security systems to strengthen counterterrorism efforts.
Aoshima Shunsaku, recently promoted to Section Chief of the Violent Crimes Division, is enthusiastically placed in charge of overseeing the relocation. Storyline for “Bayside Shakedown The TV Special” takes place one month before the movie “Bayside Shakedown The Final”. Meanwhile, Masayoshi Mashita, who is now the police chief, announces that Detective Ou will have a large scale wedding. Government official Shinji Muroi and high ranking public officers from China will attend the wedding. Everyone at the police station soon gets nervous about the wedding and the police station becomes chaotic. The police officers then learn that an international marriage swindler, who is on the international most wanted list, has arrived in Japan.

At the venue of an international environmental energy summit, a kidnapping occurs, and the victim is later found murdered. The weapon used in the killing turns out to be a handgun previously confiscated by the police.

The Odoru series began with a television drama broadcast in 1997, telling the story of an unconventional police officer, Aoshima, played by Oda Yuji, who left his corporate job to join the Criminal Investigation Division at Wangan Police Station, along with his team.
The latest installment, Odoru Daisousasen N.E.W., features an acronym that stands for “NEXT. EVOLUTION. WORLD.” The new story follows Aoshima, a deeply principled and justice-driven man who always acts on his beliefs and tirelessly works on the front lines for the sake of the public.
