Leading actress Haru plays the physical, hot-blooded detective Yashiro Tomo, who has confidence in her stamina and jujitsu skills. Armed with burning justice, passion, and intuition, she’s a straightforward female detective who throws caution to the wind and rushes headlong into reckless investigations to solve cases.

Meanwhile, Suzuki portrays the cerebral detective Narumi Risa, a text-obsessed expert who can deduce a writer’s personality and thoughts from the slightest piece of writing. As a “document decoding specialist” who boasts that she “loves text more than people,” she’s a slightly otherworldly female detective.

These two seemingly opposite characters meet in the Special Investigation Task Force’s 6th Division (Document Decoding Division), which handles document investigation for cold cases, forming an unlikely “mismatched buddy” partnership!

Kentaro Arita is a popular lawyer, who often appears on TV. He becomes involved in an adultery incident and becomes the subject of criticism and curiosity. He is then found dead. The police investigate Kentaro Arita’s family, his colleagues at the law office, and his lover actress Natsuki Toyama. The police are unable to determine a suspect and the case goes unsolved. 5 years later, day laborer Tatsuji Kosaka is found dead at a construction site. There is evidence that links the murders of Lawyer Kentaro Arita and Tatsuji Kosaka. Tomo Yashiro and Risa Narumi begin to investigate the two cases.

The series follows Narumi Risa, a graphophile detective played by Suzuki, who investigates cold cases using handwriting and written characters as her starting point.

In Season 3, a turning point arrives for Risa, who has been holed up in Section 6 (Document Deciphering Unit) of the Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division Special Task Force deep underground, solving cold case after cold case despite being mockingly dubbed the “Warehouse Witch.” Her longtime partner since Season 1 — hot-blooded, physically-driven detective Yashiro Tomo, is transferred out, and Section 6, which has been operating without a section chief, now faces the threat of being disbanded.
As Risa wallows in low spirits, Mutsu Hinako — an elite career worker with a guaranteed future in the organization — volunteers to take over as Section 6 chief. At just 29 years old, this new boss is young enough to be Risa’s daughter, leaving her unsettled by the age gap. However, witnessing Hinako’s utterly pure-hearted and earnest dedication, Risa finds her spirit renewed and throws herself enthusiastically into tackling the division’s backlog of unsolved cases.
