On a quest to find the best flavors from across the country, Yuki Hiroto, a buyer for a Tokyo department store, has arrived in Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture. When he visited Shinminato Fishing Port, which faces the Sea of Japan, he found two childhood friends — Haruki, a 23-year-old fish broker, and Sōuta, a 23-year-old fisherman – arguing over how to market the local fish. Guided by Haruki, who wanted to showcase the charm of Toyama, Hiroto set out in search of local ingredients. However, despite sampling ingredients from both the sea and the mountains, he struggled to find something that truly said, ‘This is Toyama.’ Meanwhile, the past events involving Haruki and Souta come to light!
“Kotokoto” beautifully weaves together the unique characteristics of each region, local specialties, and the heartfelt concerns of its people into a warm human drama. After watching, viewers can savor a gentle, lingering feeling, much like taking a sip of comforting soup.
Yuki Hiroto is a department store buyer who travels across Japan in search of appealing local ingredients. Hiroto initially thought his nationwide travels would be somewhat carefree since he could work alone, but unexpectedly finds himself becoming deeply involved with the local communities he visits.
Through encounters with the vitality and kindness of people living in each region, and by experiencing the unique local ingredients and cuisine, he gradually finds his life energy being replenished. This is an original drama that offers a relaxing, heartwarming experience and inspires viewers to face tomorrow with renewed motivation.
