The story begins when the protagonist, Amagi, who works at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Lost Property Center, is transferred to a new department. His transfer destination is the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Investigation Division 1, Section 12, mockingly called “the graveyard of detectives” – a place where “no matter how many achievements you make, once assigned there, you can never return to the main stage” and “the dumping ground for problem detectives.” In reality, Amagi and all the Section 12 members are elite investigators from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, each with their unique personality and exceptional skills. While they clash with each other, they complement one another to solve mysteries that cannot be solved alone, tackling difficult cases together.

Those detectives are back. “7 Detectives” depicts Higashiyama Noriyuki‘s character, detective Amaki Yu, along with seven distinctive expert investigators as they tackle complex criminal cases. In this second series, Amaki has transferred to the Mobile Investigation Unit and teams up with familiar members, including forensic scientist Domoto Shuntaro, played by Kitaoji Kinya, to form the Metropolitan Police Department’s strongest “Special Investigation Unit”! They face off against numerous heinous crimes.

Season 3 has the 7 detectives returning, this time in the Tokyo Waterfront Area, which has become a hotbed for crime due to rapid development. This season, the truth about the death of Amagi’s wife and child, which was thought to be an accident, is also revealed.

Amagi Yu and Katagiri Masatoshi have become subordinate and boss in the Criminal Documents Unit while Mizuta Tamaki and Aoyama Arata remain detectives in the Twelfth Section under the instructions of Katagiri. Together with professor of forensic medicine Domoto Shuntaro, veteran senior detective Ebisawa Yoshiki in the Twelfth Section, and newbie Nonomura Takumi who is Amagi’s subordinate, the seven of them take on old unsolved cases.

The Exclusive Investigation Team has launched, as the seven detectives challenge violent crimes and unsolved cases. Amagi belongs to the Criminal Data Section and has become a walking data bank of investigative materials. This way, Amagi can keep his dual style of documentation clerk and detective alive.

This season, the dual-wielding detectives continue to freely conduct investigations. An unprecedented incident also occurs, in which investigative materials are stolen!

With the Metropolitan Police Department going digital, the Exclusive Investigation Team and the Criminal Documents Section have been disbanded, and the team is scattered! However, due to an incident, the seven detectives gather again…

This season will also reveal the secret behind Katagiri’s private live, the changes between Tamaki and Aoyama, the end of Ebisawa’s 10 year bad luck, and Takumi’s transfer to his dream department.

A new, full-time investigation team has been formed, headed by Amagi Yu (Higashiyama Noriyuki) who leads a squad of career bureaucrats from Tokyo University. Recognized as elite, they were assigned per their own requests, but despite welcoming a fresh member–newcomer Sakashita Robin (Kotaki Nozomu)–the team has an unexpected farewell…

The seven detectives are slowly drifting apart as the detective career begins weighing on them, and at the same time, an anonymous individual starts an exposure channel to whistleblow on the police, accusing them of wrongdoing.

The channel seems to be linked to a murder case from 10 year ago, which Katagiri Masatoshi is also linked too, and several other mysterious people who hold the key to the incident begin to appear before Amagi and the others, with a sad truth awaiting them all…
