Synopsis

After the Earthquake, adapted from four short stories written by MURAKAMI Haruki in response to the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, explores the interconnected themes of overwhelming violence against human society and its lasting effects. The narrative spans 30 years, from 1995 to 2025, weaving together major catastrophic events including the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the Tokyo subway sarin attack, the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The drama aims to portray society’s journey toward healing and recovery from these successive traumas.
