Synopsis
Originally created as a manga series by Matsuyama Hiroshi, CEO of gaming company Cyber Connect 2, the first live action installment was based off of the manga and saw moderate success. Matsuyama wanted to showcase the issues of the gaming world more and helped create Chaser Game’s predecessor, Chaser Game W, which centered on a revenge plot devised by a scorn lesbian ex-lover that was set in the gaming production world.
The drama became a smash hit and was immediately licensed by GagaOoLala, an international streaming service which focuses on LGBTQ+ content.
Due to the fandom’s overwhelming response, a fan event was held in Tokyo for Chaser Game W in April of 2024, a BluRay and DVD release is set for September 2024, and a second season of Chaser Game W is in production and will air in August 2024.

On his ninth year of working at game development company DynamicDream, game creator Shindo Tatsuya is finally promoted to a senior management position. Trivia: Matsuyama Hiroshi, the writer of the original manga series is the president of CyberConnect2, a Japanese game production company which is best known for its .hack series (of which Matsuyama served as director). Although the name of the studio in the live-action version will be changed to DynamicDream, the production team made use of CyberConnect2’s Tokyo Studio in order to film the office environment. Matsuyama is involved in some of the script creation but the drama itself will be penned by director, writer, and producer Ohta Yu.

This is the second drama adaptation of the original manga Chaser Game, which is set in the games industry. It follows Harumoto Itsuki, a 27 year old employee who works at the game development company Dynamic Dream. She is selected as the project leader of a major collaborative work between Japan and China. Hayashi Fuyu is the head of a major Chinese content company but she also happens to be Harumoto’s ex-girlfriend. This is a revenge love-hate drama between a lesbian boss and her subordinate.

The unexpected mega-hit, Chaser Game W, comes back with a second season due to feedback from fans. The second season of Chaser Game W starts off during the one year gap from the first season, when our favorite lesbian couple part ways.
Despite having mutual feelings for each other, Itsuki (Sugai Yuka) and Fuyu (Nakamura Yurika) once separated, safely reunite with an understanding from Fuyu’s husband Kou and their daughter Tsuki.
They try to make up for lost time and talk non-stop and start spending good times together. Meanwhile, Itsuki’s first love, Park Yeoreum, appears. Also Fuyu’s mother, who doesn’t approve of the relationship, continues to spy on Itsuki and Fuyu which creates uneasy vibes in the relationship.
How will Itsuki and Fuyu, who struggled through so many obstacles to be together, overcome the never-ending trials and tribulations that befall them?
