About Kakehi Masaya

Kakehi Masaya is a Japanese director and screenwriter. He graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Hoya High School and Nihon University College of Arts. He started off as a manga artist when he was 14 years old and won the Big Comic Spirits Monthly Newcomer Encouragement Award and Kodansha’s Chiba Tetsuya award.

In college, he created two independent files, “Scrap” and “Haraise,” both were selected for the Yubari Film Festival.

After college, Masaya worked for a video production company working with CG and video editing. After he left the company, he worked in motion graphics and animation.

Since 2003, he’s filmed various short independent movies many of which won multiple awards.
