Synopsis

The story of a love triangle between real-life actress Hasegawa Yasuko, the poet Nakahara Chuuya, and critic Kobayashi Hideo. It depicts the youth of these three people, who despite their scars, keep moving forward without looking back. The title was entrusted to Kobayashi by Nakahara from his sickbed and was taken from a poem included in the posthumously published poetry collection “Poems of Days Past.”
 
The script was written over 40 years ago by Tanaka Yozo, and was long known as a phantom project that many directors had aspired to adapt but that which had never been realized. Negishi and Tanaka have teamed up once again, following their collaboration on “Villon’s Wife.”
