Synopsis

A crime suspense film adaptation of Tsutsui Tetsuya‘s manga about terrorism in our highly information-driven society, starring Ikuta Toma and Toda Erika. Director Nakamura Yoshihiro, known for “The Snow White Murder Case,” helms this project.

One day, a mysterious figure wearing a newspaper mask appears on a video site, threatening to set fire to a food processing company that showed no remorse after causing mass food poisoning. Yoshino Erika, a career investigator at the Metropolitan Police Department’s Cybercrime Division, begins investigating the enigmatic perpetrator known as “Shinbunshi” (The Newspaper Man). She discovers that Shinbunshi isn’t working alone but is part of a group.

As predicted, the food processing company’s factory is set ablaze. Shinbunshi continues to announce and execute vigilante justice against criminals who escape punishment through legal loopholes. When they eventually progress to announcing the assassination of a politician, Shinbunshi’s existence becomes a social phenomenon.

The film also stars Suzuki Ryohei from “HK Hentai Kamen” and Hamada Gaku from “The Great Shu Ra Ra Boom.”
