Synopsis

Graduate science student Maeda Aiko (Matsui Rena) has a birthmark on the left side of her face. Teased for it as a child, she grew hesitant when it came to romance and having fun. But everything changes when she’s interviewed for a nonfiction book about people with facial scars and injuries. As the book is adapted into a film, she meets director Hisaka Sota (Nakajima Ayumu). Though Aiko initially refuses to be involved in the movie, she gradually finds herself drawn to his personality and slowly, awkwardly, begins to open up. However, the presence of Hisaka’s ex-girlfriend and doubts about whether he approached her solely to make the film begin to shake the foundations of Aiko’s love and her life.

More than just a poignant love story filled with delicate emotional distance between Aiko and Hisaka, this film also offers a moving portrayal of Aiko facing her past and finding the strength to move forward.
