Synopsis

This work is a human drama that portrays individuals burdened by past sins as they struggle to survive within a harsh reality. Using the metaphor of a cactus’s thorns, the story explores the theme of “the pain necessary to keep living,” as the intertwined fates of three men and women unfold in complex ways.
 
At the center of the narrative is Seto Erika, a woman on parole after serving time for a drug-related offense. Having lost her father at a young age and grown up without experiencing love, she struggles to understand emotional boundaries, repeatedly making mistakes in her desperate search to be loved.
 
Assigned as her probation officer is Iwanaga, a man who was once sentenced to prison for a robbery case.
25 years ago, he committed a crime in an attempt to protect the woman he loved, resulting in a 15-year prison sentence. However, unresolved mysteries still linger around the case he was believed to be involved in. Meanwhile, Detective Todo Kuniaki, who lost his father in that very incident, continues to pursue the truth.
A new wave of serial robbery cases reignites the investigation, prompting Todo to relentlessly close in on Iwanaga once again.
As each of them confronts their own sins, regrets, and longing for redemption, their paths intertwine, ultimately leading them toward an inescapable fate.
