Synopsis

Kakutani Michi (Baisho Chieko) is a 78 year old who lives modestly and alone after the passing of her husband. When she’s abruptly fired from the cleaning staff at a hotel because of her age, the risk of losing her home seems imminent, and Michi ultimately considers applying for the government-run program “Plan 75” – a program that encourages the elderly to choose euthanasia. Hiromu (Isomura Hayato) – a city hall worker who mans the Plan 75 application window – and Yoko (Kawai Yuumi) – a call center employee who offers support for the old-aged until ‘their day’ comes – have reservations about the program’s existence. Around the same time, Maria (Stefanie Arianne), a caregiver from the Philippines, makes a career shift to start a high-salary position at a Plan 75-associated facility in order to pay for her young daughter’s surgery.
