Synopsis

Since the death of his wife eight years prior, Mido Kazuo (Muro Tsuyoshi) has raised their daughter, Hikari (Nakada Noa), on his own. As a middle schooler heading into adolescence, there are times she is just the tiniest bit rebellious, but despite their petty quarrels, she loves her father – pastor to a small church and part-time gas station worker. Their peaceful life soon comes crashing, however, when Hikari is diagnosed with leukemia after her faint draws concern. Overwhelmed by his daughter’s diagnosis and million to one chance at finding a compatible donor, Kazuo receives additional gut-wrenching news that he is not Hikari’s biological father. But, knowing that the chance of donor compatibility increases among blood relatives, Kazuo sets out to find the man responsible for the existence of the only daughter he’s known and loves.
