Synopsis

Based on a novel adaptation by Yoshida Shuuichi.
 
Yoshizawa Ryo takes on the role of kabuki actor Kikuo, who was born into a yakuza clan but through a strange twist of fate ended up being taken in by a family of kabuki actors. From then on he devotes himself to the arts and blossoms into a talented kabuki actor.
 

Kikuo, born into a yakuza family, becomes an orphan at 15 when his father is killed in a gang conflict. Hanai Hanjiro, the head of a prestigious Kamigata Kabuki theater family, recognizes Kikuo’s natural talent and takes him in, unexpectedly thrusting him into the world of kabuki. Raised alongside Shunsuke, Hanjiro’s heir, the two boys grow up as brothers, supporting each other as both friends and rivals while dedicating their youth to perfecting their art.

Their destinies take a dramatic turn when Hanjiro, hospitalized after an accident, chooses Kikuo as his temporary replacement, forever altering the relationship between these talented performers.
