Synopsis

Mic Ballers (ミックバラーズ) was formed in 1967 at a residential facility in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, where people with visual and intellectual disabilities live. The group’s members, who were often underestimated and thought incapable of achieving much by those around them, went on to perform hit Japanese popular songs from the Showa era at venues across the country. Their remarkable journey earned them the nickname “the miracle band.”

In the film When You Could See Your Sound, the protagonist Nanasawa Nana, who has given up on her dream of making her debut as a musician, returns to her hometown of Fukui. She begins working at Adelila, a support facility for people with disabilities. Although she initially considers quitting, everything changes when she hears resident Takato playing the harmonica. Inspired by his music, Nana starts teaching the residents, and in the process, her perspective on the world is transformed.
