Synopsis
Adapted from a novel by Hirano Keiichiro.
Set in the future in Japan where daily life is powered by AI, and voluntary death has now been legalized. “I have something important to tell you” Sakuya’s mother said before passing away suddenly. It turns out she had chosen “death with dignity.” Why did his seemingly happy mother wish for her own death? Desperate to know his mother’s true feelings by any means, Sakuya requests a cutting-edge AI company create “his mother” within a virtual space. Though he only wanted to know her true thoughts and feelings, in the process, he ends up losing sight of his own heart and dignity. Can technology truly replicate human emotions?
