Synopsis

In this remake of a Korean drama, “The Kidnapping Day” follows a clumsy kind-hearted man who kidnaps a smart wealthy child in order to demand a ransom from the child’s parents.
 
The story begins when Masamune (Saitoh Takumi) attempts to kidnap Nanase Rin (Nagao Yuno), the daughter of a wealthy hospital director, in order to pay for surgery for his daughter with a heart condition – a plan suggested by his wife. Although he hesitates until the very last moment, his wife urges him on over the phone. Just as he reaches the area near the director’s home, a young girl suddenly runs out in front of his car. He slams on the brakes and narrowly avoids an accident, but in the next moment, the girl collapses unconscious. That girl is none other than Rin, the very target of the kidnapping.
Although he is taken aback by how easily the kidnapping succeeds, he’s soon thrown for a loop when Rin wakes up with no memory of who she is. Thinking fast, he claims to be her father and finds himself forced into the role. But just as he begins this charade, Rin’s real parents – the hospital director and his wife – are murdered by an unknown assailant. Now a murder suspect, he finds himself in a desperate situation. However, it’s soon revealed that the kidnapped Rin is a multilingual, quick-thinking genius with vast knowledge and razor-sharp instincts. The dynamic flips as Masamune starts receiving blunt but insightful advice from the strong-willed Rin on how to escape their predicament. As they flee from both the police and a group of mysterious men targeting Rin, the story follows the unconventional and suspenseful journey of this unlikely duo, bound together by fate.
