Synopsis

Based on Yamazaki Toyoko’s bestselling work, this drama reveals the hidden truth of three individuals behind the “Okinawa Reversion Secret Agreement” scandal that shook Japan—a story based on actual events from 40 years ago.

In the newspaper industry, where ideals and desires clash, Political Department ace reporter Yuminari Ryota (Motoki Masahiro) exposes the government’s deception behind the “Okinawa Reversion.” However, after provoking those in power, Yuminari falls prey to their carefully orchestrated trap through a minor vulnerability. As he becomes embroiled in a major scandal, the story follows his unwavering fight to maintain his journalistic integrity despite his beliefs being twisted and challenged.

The drama focuses on three central characters:

  • Yuminari, the resolute reporter fighting with an unbreakable spirit
  • His wife Yuriko (Matsu Takako), is torn between her roles as a “newspaper reporter’s wife” and a woman harboring doubts about her husband
