Synopsis

In post-World War II Kamata, Tokyo, Shimomura Umeko struggles with feelings of inferiority compared to her accomplished siblings. Inspired by her father’s work as a doctor, she pursues a medical career. After working at a university hospital, Umeko becomes a local physician and marries her childhood friend. The story follows her devoted journey in community healthcare, focusing on her dedication to serving ordinary citizens.
