Synopsis

Based on the manga of the same title by Shimizu Shun, the story begins when Shie Sousuke, a veteran undertaker with a seemingly rough demeanor, crosses paths with Soyogi Kotaro, an elite company employee who has lost sight of himself after being consumed by work. Their encounter is set in motion by the sudden death of Soyogi’s mother.
 
As Shie and Soyogi – an unlikely mentor-and-student pair who couldn’t be more different – meet each death and grieving family with sincerity, the series unfolds into a reflection on family, loneliness, aging, loss, and renewal in modern society.
