Synopsis

Akiyoshi Hiromasa is a hen-pecked son-in-law who can’t stand up to his mother-in-law or wife. Because his marriage to Mari was a “shotgun wedding,” his mother-in-law, Otome, still refuses to acknowledge their marriage even after 19 years.

However, Hiromasa’s life dramatically changes when his father-in-law Yoshiaki passes away. Otome requests that he run for mayor to carry on Yoshiaki’s legacy as the former city mayor.

With no leadership skills, an aversion to conflict, and a generally unreliable nature, Hiromasa is ill-suited for the political world in everyone’s eyes. Yet Otome is determined to mold him into a mayor!

While addressing the theme of “politics” both comically and seriously, the drama portrays amateur mayor Hiromasa’s growth as he resolves various issues, including citizen complaints and family crises.

A nostalgic family story filled with laughter, tears, and heartwarming moments.
