Synopsis

A TV drama series based on two works by mystery novelist Miyabe Miyuki: her debut novel “Perfect Blue” and its spin-off “Heartmelting: Masa’s Case Files.”

 

While “Perfect Blue” was previously adapted into a WOWOW drama and theatrical release, this new adaptation slightly modifies the original setting to create a rich mystery series. The story centers on the all-female Hasumi Detective Agency, where Hasumi Kayoko (played by Takimoto Miori) works as an investigator. Zaizen Naomi plays Kyoko, Kayoko’s mother and the agency’s director, while Terawaki Yasufumi portrays Shiina Yusuke, the trusted owner of nearby “BAR La Scena.” Funakoshi Eiichiro voices Masa, a former police dog who serves as the agency’s protector and Kayoko’s investigation partner.

 

Kayoko’s late father, a newspaper social affairs reporter, died by suicide seven years ago. However, the truth remains shrouded in mystery, and Kyoko has been secretly investigating the circumstances. Through a particular case, Kayoko and those around her begin to uncover the truth about her father’s death.

 

Using “Perfect Blue” as the main storyline, the series interweaves cases from “Heartmelting: Masa’s Case Files” in an episodic format. Watch as Kayoko, who despises lies and has a strong sense of justice, solves mysteries alongside the ever-observant Masa, while the unique personalities at the detective agency create a deeply human drama.
