Synopsis

Airs in Fall 2026. Broadcasting date TBD.

The Hakone Ekiden is one of the most prominent New Year sporting events that is held every year in January – a 2 day fateful qualifying race that determines who earns a spot in the main event.

In the original novel, the story centered on a student team led by the track and field club of a prominent University, but for this television drama adaptation, it was restructured to place greater emphasis on the television network arc at the author Ikeido’s request.

The drama captures what happens, who makes the critical decisions, and how the Hakone Ekiden is ultimately delivered to viewers at the broadcasting front line, where more than 14 hours of live coverage are carried out over two days.

The students’ runs as they push themselves to their physical limits and the battles fought by the television broadcast staff who deliver those moments to the nation are woven together, unfolding simultaneously on screen.
