Synopsis

A daughter suddenly arrives at the home of a single man living in Kyoto!

 

Kakinoki Kukichi (Sasaki Kuranosuke) runs a small private practice in Kyoto, where traditional townscapes remain, specializing primarily in house calls. Despite being a skilled doctor, he’s a compassionate type who takes on anything during his patient visits, from shopping errands to tending to withered bonsai plants, acting like a local handyman.

 

One day, his daughter Miyako (Fujino Ryouko) appears at Kuukichi’s doorstep – someone he hadn’t contacted even once in the 12 years. The last time he saw Miyako, she was 8 years old, but now standing before him is a radiant 20-year-old woman. Kukichi can’t hide his bewilderment at his daughter’s sudden arrival in Kyoto. Regardless of her father’s feelings, Miyako declares she’ll be staying in Kyoto for a while.

 

What is Miyako’s purpose for coming to Kyoto? What unknown secret does Miyako carry? Through their awkward reunion after 12 years, this father and daughter gradually connect through their interactions with the beautiful city of Kyoto and its warm-hearted people.
