Synopsis

Twin brothers Keigo and Yugo were born to a wealthy family. While Keigo was serious and responsible, Yugo was free-spirited. One day at the park, Keigo checked his watch and suggested they go home. Yugo ignored him and went deeper into the park. Keigo left alone, never imagining that moments later, Yugo would be kidnapped.

Twenty years later, 30-year-old Katsuragi Keigo has become a detective in the Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division. His brother’s kidnapping remains unsolved, with Yugo’s whereabouts and fate unknown. Though Keigo became a detective to uncover the truth himself, his colleague Akagi resents him for distrusting the police more than anyone, despite being an officer.

Their father Eiichi, appears on television offering a private reward of 100 million yen for information about the 20-year-old case, declaring, “Our family won’t give up. We believe Yugo is alive somewhere.” Keigo shares this belief since no body was ever found. His relationship with his only confidante, girlfriend Satomi, hasn’t progressed because he was determined to find Yugo first. When she asks how long she must wait and how long Keigo must suffer, it reminds him of his 20-year-old regret of leaving Yugo alone.

Two others haunted by the case are Minagawa, the detective originally assigned to the case, and current Division Chief Kunō (played by Ishiguro Ken). Minagawa tells Keigo they’re all “under a curse that can never be broken.”

A breakthrough comes when an attempted murder occurs. The victim is unemployed Tajima, who was planning to provide information after seeing the TV program. Keigo happens to be the first to discover him, but DNA testing of hair found at the crime scene reveals a shocking truth.
