Kare no Iru Seikatsu

Natsukawa Ryota, who had been helping take care of his younger sisters and doing household chores under the absence of his working parents, had been looking forward to living alone upon starting university. However, he unexpectedly ends up living with his childhood friend, Tanaka Kazuhito. Despite Kazuhito's good looks and pleasant personality, he mysteriously doesn't have a girlfriend. Ryota tries to find reasons behind this, but unable to find any faults with Kazuhito, he finds himself charmed by his kind words and actions.

As their life together begins smoothly, Ryota and Kazuhito spend enjoyable days together. Ryota becomes friends with Kazuhito's high school friends, Yoshida Eri and Haruna Keita, and starts talking to them often. When Ryota finds out that Kazuhito and Eri work at the same part-time job, he wonders if Eri might be the one Kazuhito likes, but Eri quickly denies it. Moreover, when Ryota hears some cryptic words from Kazuhito, he tries to confirm it directly from him but…

"Can you kiss me?" Natsukawa tries to confirm Kazuhito's feelings, but he says, "I can't" and Natsukawa impulsively tries to cover it up as a joke. Just then, Natsukawa's mother, Saeko, and his younger sisters, Mana and Saki, come to visit. Realizing her son's troubles, Saeko advises him, "Don't lie to yourself." After Saeko and the others leave, Natsukawa begins to tell Kazuhito the true meaning of his earlier question.

Ever since Kazuhito confessed his feelings, Natsukawa finds himself constantly aware of their interactions, feeling both nervous and unsettled. This, in turn, affects Kazuhito, leading to awkwardness between them. During one such moment, Kazuhito runs into Natsukawa chatting amicably with Haruna. With jealousy in the mix, he somewhat forcefully arranges their plans for Sunday, yet to his surprise, Natsukawa responds with genuine delight...

Natsukawa goes on a day camp with Kazuhito. He feels complicated seeing Kazuhito talking happily with a group of women, but he is happy when he says he wants to be alone with him today and wishes that this time would last forever.
One morning, Kazuhito suggests calling Natsukawa by his name, but they both get embarrassed and can't say it properly.
As they spend time together, Natsukawa begins to realize his feelings for Kazuhito.

Kazuhito is reminiscing about his past in a dream. As children, Kazuhito and Natsukawa were so close that they had sleepovers together. They stayed up late playing board games and promised to always be friends, but they never ended up in the same class in middle school and went to different high schools, so they became distant. When Kazuhito was forced to quit baseball due to an injury, it was Natsukawa's casual words that saved him.

Natsukawa had made up his mind to confess his feelings to Kazuhito. However, seeing how popular he was among their friends, he began to hesitate, wondering if he would be ruining his future.
