Synopsis

Housewife Misumi Kazuyo (Matsubara Chieko) shoots and kills her husband Shigeo (Akino Taishaku), the director of an accounting firm, with a gun. This occurs just after his subordinates propose throwing a ruby wedding anniversary party to celebrate their 40 years of marriage. Hanazawa Taro (Ishizuka Hidehiko) becomes suspicious when he notices that immediately after Kazuyo discovered her husband’s body and called the police, she had cleaned the dishes and started the washing machine, leading him to suspect she may be the perpetrator. However, investigation reveals that the bullet’s rifling marks match those from a gun used in a yakuza conflict eight years earlier. Suspicions also arise that Shigeo had been providing tax evasion guidance to the yakuza, making it seem likely that he was shot to death following trouble with organized crime. Despite this, Hanazawa continues to suspect Kazuyo’s involvement and gradually pursues her. However, he cannot determine how an ordinary housewife like Kazuyo could have obtained the murder weapon! What exactly happened between this seemingly ordinary middle-aged couple? Hanazawa investigates to uncover the true motive behind it all!
