Synopsis

Hizaki Yuko, a child psychologist at a childcare center, is deeply troubled by the case of Komada Reiko, a young girl suffering abuse from her alcoholic father Komada. At home, she finds no respite between her father Seitaro, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, and her mother Tamiko, who constantly complains about caring for her husband.

Sudo Shunsuke, a high school art teacher, lives without a clear purpose. Though his girlfriend Kiyooka Miho pressures him to marry, he strongly resists the idea of starting a family. He once dreamed of becoming a recognized artist but has come to accept his lack of talent.

A tragic incident occurs in Shunsuke’s apartment building: a family murder-suicide where a young man allegedly killed his grandfather and parents before taking his own life. While local police conclude it’s a family suicide pact based on the enclosed space and a handwritten suicide note, Metropolitan Police Detective Mamihara suspects otherwise, guided by his intuition that “a child couldn’t kill parents this way.”

Is this truly a family suicide? What led to this tragic incident? Yuko, Shunsuke, and Mamihara find themselves inevitably drawn into this case while dealing with their struggles.
