Synopsis

The protagonist Akagi Shumpei recently became a single father just three months ago due to certain circumstances. While struggling to raise his five-year-old son alone, he unexpectedly reunites with his childhood friend Osanai Sosuke, whose well-meaning but meddlesome impulse leads to a social media post with the outrageous hashtag “#Family Recruitment,” inadvertently dragging Shumpei into the scheme. Sosuke, working at a rundown okonomiyaki restaurant called “Nijiya,” conceived this plan to revitalize the struggling establishment by generating rental income through communal living arrangements in the vacant second-floor apartment above the restaurant.

Initially skeptical that anyone would respond to such an absurd recruitment post, Shumpei finds himself proven wrong when the “#Family Recruitment” social media campaign attracts two unexpected respondents. The first is Momota Rei, a somewhat rigid elementary school teacher and single mother, and the second is Yokose Meiku, a singer-songwriter with children who continues pursuing her musical dreams. This unlikely group of four adults and three children eventually decides to live together under one roof, creating an unconventional household.
