Synopsis

Hakamada Yukio is a competent, mysterious lawyer who only handles cases associated with male-female relationships because of past experiences. In contrast to his mild appearance, he would unleash a torrent of abuse at his clients. However, he works hard to gather evidence in order to get high settlements. His philosophy that “love is something that can never be bought with money. But if a client is able to have genuine resolve, I’ll certainly get the compensation and give the push for a fresh start” is the basis for the problems that he solves one after another. Hakamada uses his knowledge of the law to fix problems in an attempt to give his clients the boost to start over their lives again. On the other hand, the whole story on how he became hung up about settlements is also revealed bit by bit. Having heard of Hakamada’s reputation, people with various love problems would come to visit him. This time, his client is Kurasawa Kanae, a housewife who aspires to be a manga artist. She has been tolerating her husband’s daily psychological harassment. He would wrest her purse from her, tell her to pay for everything because of their low living expenses, call her a stupid woman and fling cold words at her.
