Synopsis

Born into a poor family in Yamanashi, Hanako (Yoshitaka Yuriko) studies English at a girls’ school in Tokyo and becomes a translator. As a translator, Hanako delivers dreams and hope to children. Like Anne from “Anne of Green Gables,” published after the war, this is the tumultuous life story of Hanako from the Meiji to Showa periods, who lived believing in the power of dreams. The story is based on Muraoka Hanako, who translated “Anne of Green Gables.” Original work by Muraoka Hanako.
