Synopsis

Starring Machiko Ono and written by Kazuhiko Yukawa, this groundbreaking family drama marks their first collaboration, featuring Ono’s first on-screen pairing with Yosuke Eguchi as a married couple. The series poses a profound question: “Can you say ‘I love you’ to your family?”

The plot follows a childless couple who decide to adopt a 5-year-old boy abandoned by his parents, chronicling their six-month journey to become a “real family.” The boy neither smiles nor speaks and doesn’t even have a name. While other adults struggle to connect with this emotionally withdrawn child, somehow this couple discovers a unique way to communicate with him. Is this a miracle or destiny?

The Japanese adoption system, which legally recognizes adoptive parents as true parents, comes with numerous challenges – including time limits, trial periods, and court evaluations – essentially creating a series of tests to prove authentic parent-child bonds. Ono plays a frustrated pianist wife, while Eguchi portrays her universally acknowledged kind-hearted husband, as they struggle to overcome these hurdles.
