Synopsis

Based on a novel by Akiyoshi Rikako, this story follows two unlikely companions: a well-read transgender woman who runs a stylish mix bar, and a troubled housewife whose life is consumed by a cheating husband and demanding children. Though worlds apart, the two are drawn together when the bar owner uncovers a long-buried regret her new acquaintance has carried for twenty years — and the unlikely pair set off on a journey to Osaka together. There, they find themselves entangled in a murder mystery. Drawing on her deep knowledge of classic Japanese literature, the bar owner unravels both the truth behind the crime and the complex web of human drama surrounding it.
