Synopsis

Aihara Eriko is a poor girl from a poor country family living a desperately poor life. But, having some talent as an artist, she manages to attend an art school in Tokyo and dreams of someday becoming rich as a mangaka. The path to her dream will be a rocky one, but Eriko’s determined to get there… one yen at a time.

Based on an autobiography by the mangaka Saihara Rieko, this humorous story is filled with richly colorful characters.
