Synopsis

Set in a small district of Tokyo, this heartwarming romantic comedy follows an unexpected encounter between past and present. When Senka, a mysterious oiran (high-ranking courtesan) from the Edo period, suddenly appears in modern-day Tokyo, she turns the quiet life of Kuraji, a passive part-time worker, completely upside down.

Moving like a phantom through the city, Senka encounters various modern women struggling with contemporary issues. With her refined Edo-period wisdom, she gently encourages them with her catchphrase, “That’s not very stylish, is it?” while helping them find their way.

The story takes a romantic turn when Kasuga Izumi (25), Kuraji’s high school classmate and crush, crosses paths with Torii Naoki (30), a man who resembles Senka’s deceased lover from the Edo period. As their lives intertwine in a complex love quadrangle, a bittersweet question looms: what will become of Senka’s romance, knowing she must eventually return to her own time?

This heart-touching comedy centers on two contrasting characters: a graceful and refined oiran from Edo and a hesitant, herbivore-type modern man. Though both share equally deep feelings for others, their approaches to life couldn’t be more different – she acts too quickly, while he overthinks everything to the point of paralysis.
